Smoothie 101

…woke up hungry this morning and craved something cold and fresh. I got a new blender for Christmas (Oster Pro 1200 Blender Plus 24 oz Smoothie Cup) and I must say, I love the smoothie feature; stack your ingredients, screw on bottom, turn upside down, pop in stand, hit smoothie button and DONE.

Blueberries (frozen) – 8 ounces/1 cup
Spinach – 8 ounces/1 cup
Skim Milk – 8 ounces/1 cup
Oats – 1/4 cup
Honey – 3 tablespoons

You could pretty much add/swap out any frozen fruit you like (banana, cherry, mango, strawberry).  Sometimes I like to add in peanut butter – sometimes I don’t.  The key here is the skim milk and the spinach, the oats add a little hearty to it and honey for sweetness.
